Toi Ora
Toi Ora is a three-term programme designed for high school ākonga who are at risk of becoming disconnected from education. Specifically created to uplift young wāhine, Toi Ora inspires confidence and self-belief through teamwork, personal growth, and stepping beyond comfort zones.
Guided by values of creativity, self-care, resilience, and connection, Toi Ora supports rangatahi to explore their identities, build meaningful relationships, and develop practical tools for wellbeing. Through creative expression, new experiences, and group activities, students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, strengthen their sense of belonging, and grow their inner confidence.
Originally piloted at Dunstan High School in response to a growing need for wellbeing support, Toi Ora has proven the powerful impact of creativity and community in building resilience and self-awareness. Now an ongoing programme, Toi Ora provides a safe, welcoming space for rangatahi to explore their emotions, discover their strengths, and build a positive vision for their futures.
