Kaihanga
Kaihanga is an in-school lunchtime programme designed for Year 7 & 8 students who identify as male. The programme offers a variety of activities and discussions aimed at building confidence, teaching self-worth, and providing practical tools for managing life's challenges.
Kaihanga creates a safe and supportive space where rangatahi can lift each other up, explore important life skills, and develop a sense of self-reliance. Students are encouraged to become their own kaihanga (architects, builders, creators), learning how to strengthen their whare tapa whā (four walls of well-being) to ensure they can weather life’s storms with resilience and strength.
Kaihanga has been successfully run at Roxburgh Area School, Alexandra Primary School, and St Gerard’s Primary School. We’re excited to expand this programme and bring it to even more schools in the future!
